Church Point man dead after motorcycle crash

Lafayette police report a Cody Lavergne, 38, of Church Point, died after his motorcycle crashed in the 100 block of East Gloria Switch Road in Lafayette about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to traffic investigators, the Lavergne was driving a motorcycle west on East Gloria Switch Road, when for unknown reasons the motorcycle traveled off the roadway. The motorcycle impacted a culvert and the driver was ejected.
Lavergne was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said in a news release.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
