Jimmie Edwards Sr. is announcing his candidacy for re-election to the St. Landry Parish Council District 12 seat.
Edwards said he has been a resident of Eunice and District 12 for over 50 years.
Edwards has been married to Lee E. Jordan for 38 years. They have three daughters, Arlene Thomas, Pamela “Kemo” WinBush and Margo Shaw and one son, Jimmie Edwards Jr.
Edwards said he belongs to St. Mathilda’s Catholic Church, is a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 92, a member of the Progressive Brothers Civic and Social Club, captain of the Eunice Police Reserve for 20 years and a member for 36 years.
“I have been the St. Landry Parish councilman for District 12 for eight years now,” he said.
“I am now retired, I have worked as a truck driver for 16 to 18 years, a custodian for two years, a school bus driver for St. Landry Parish School Board for 25 years, a code enforcement officer for the City of Eunice for seven years, an officer for the Eunice City Marshal Office for seven years, and worked part time at the Eunice Post Office for 14 years,” he said.
Edwards said he has been retired for three years.
The election is scheduled Oct. 24.
