Guillory, Rambin lead Iota to first win

IOTA – The last time the Bulldogs had won a football game was on Nov. 2, 2012 when Iota grabbed a 35-6 win over Mamou.
It took the Bullodgs four overtimes to earn a 30-22 victory over Sacred Heart of Ville Platte as Iota handed head coach Josh Andrus his first win.
Iota sophomore runningback Kaleb Guillory gained 147 yards and two touchdowns
Bulldog freshman quarterback Trae Rambin completed 12-of-21 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
For their efforts, Guillory and Rambin was selected as the Eunice News Co-Players of the Week.
Guillory scored on a 67-yard run in the first quarter and added a 2-yard touchdown in the third overtime.
Rambin connected with Hunter Andrus on 17-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
He then found Bliss Deshazo open for a four-yard touchdown and connected with Alex Frey for the two-point conversion in the fourth overtime period,
Other top performances from the opening weekend of the season include:
St. Edmund quarterback Drake Brunet completed 12-of-31 passes for 234 yards with two interceptions and four touchdowns in the Blue Jays’ 68-32 loss to Northwest.
William Chachere had four receptions for 119 yards including touchdowns of 34-and 64-yards.
Gibson LaFleur had four catches for 95 yards including touchdowns of 13- and 58-yards.
LaFleur added 57 yards on 11 carries with a 14-yard touchdown run for the Jays.
Church Point quarterback Troy Matte completed 8-of-15 passes for 171 yards in the Bears’ 27-26 overtime win against Rayne.
Frederick Williams led the Bears with 105 yards on three receptions.
Basile runningback Gabe Fontenot had 122 yards on 17 carries and a score in the Bearcats’ 20-14 overtime win over Kinder.
Eunice quarterback Alex Richard completed 5-of-7 passes for 109 yards in the Bobcats’ 48-0 win over Opelousas High.
Richard connected with Georrin Dupre for a 66-yard touchdown and 26-yards to Travis Godfrey for another score.
Godfrey also scored on a 42-yard punt return.
Ian George had 102 yards rushing on nine carries.
