Bobcats visit No. 5 Jennings
JENNINGS – The games between Eunice and Jennings have always been battles.
Bobcat head coach Paul Trosclair said he expects nothing less Friday when Eunice visits fifth-ranked Jennings.
Last season, the Bulldogs rolled to a 31-14 win over the Bobcats.
Eunice opened the season with a 48-0 win over Opelousas, limiting the Tigers to 56 yards of total offense.
The Bobcats gained 337 yards rushing and added 109 yards through the air against OHS.
“We need to be in better shape,” head coach Paul Trosclair said. “This week will be a four-quarter battle against one of the best 3-A teams in the state.”
Last week, Travis Etienne, Jr. scored on an 80-yard run with 2:04 left to give Jennings a 41-40 win over Kinder.
Etienne Jr. ran for 258 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Jennings junior quarterback Kendrick LeJeune completed 7-of-11 for 113 yards.
“They execute the ball well on offense,” Trosclair said. “Etienne is one of the best running backs in the state.”
The Jennings defense also stopped the game-winning two-point conversion with 43 seconds left.
“This is a rivalry game and strange things happen when we go to Jennings,” Trosclair said. “But our guys like to play there.”
Eunice quarterback Alex Richard completed 5-of-7 passes for 109 yards in the Bobcats’ 48-0 win over Opelousas High.
Richard connected with Georrin Dupre for a 66-yard touchdown and 26-yards to Travis Godfrey for another score. Godfrey also scored on a 42-yard punt return.
Ian George had 102 yards rushing on nine carries for the Bobcats.
The Bobcat coach said he expects the best from his team.
“They work hard and we know what we will get from them,” Trosclair said of his team. “A win against Jennings will be big,”
