Many St. Landry Parish incumbents unopposed

Staff Report

The nameplates are staying in place for many St. Landry Parish elected officials as qualifying for the Oct. 24 election closed Thursday with no opponents surfacing.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz is unopposed. Parish President Bill Fontenot is headed toward a second term.
Other unopposed officials include Russell Pavich, coroner; Rhyn Duplechain, assessor; and Charles Jagneaux, clerk of court.
State Senatorial District 28 incumbent Sen. Eric LaFleur, District 28, and Rep. H. Bernard LeBas , District 38, are unopposed.
Incumbent St. Landry Parish Council member District 13 Gary Courville faces opposition from Coby Roy Clavier.
And, in Parish Council District 12, incumbent Jimmie Edwards is challenged by John Marshall and Imelda Allison Thomas.
There are two candidates in the BESE District 8 race, and they are Carolyn Hill and Jada Lewis. The two State Senatorial District 24 candidates are Gerald Boudreaux and Ledricka Johnson Thierry.
The three State Representative District 41 candidates are Phillip DeVillier, Greg Fruge and Germaine Simpson. Some residents of Acadia Parish will also vote in House District 41 race.
Unopposed candidates in Acadia Parish are clerk of court candidate Robert T. “Robby” Barousse; assessor candidate James J. “Jimbo” Petitjean; and coroner candidate Mark H. Dawson.
State Senatorial District 25 candidate Dan W. “Blade” Morrish and State Senatorial District 26 candidates Jonathan Perry are also unopposed.
The three candidates in the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s election are K. P. Gibson, Keith Latiola and Brian Richard.
The four Acadia Police Juror District 6 candidates are Kem Arceneaux, Tony Broussard, A. J. “Jay” Credeur and Richard A. Faul. The two Acadia Parish Police Juror District 8 candidates are Robert J. Guidry and Felton Moreau.
