Opelousas Lighthouse Mission holding Hunters for the Hungry

Opelousas Lighthouse Mission’s annual Hunters for the Hungry food drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 with six drop off sites.
The event asks sportsmen and their families to “clean out your freezers” and donate frozen processed game and fish from the 2014 season.
All donations are tax deductible and will be used to feed the needy through the Opelousas Lighthouse Mission’s shelters and programs, just one of the many ways the center fulfills its mission of assisting needy members of our community to become self-sufficient.
Last year’s drive was a success with the collection more than 8,000 lbs. of food, which provided 33,000 meals to the impoverished and homeless in the greater Lafayette community.
Collections sites include:
Lafayette — Cajun Field, main drop off location.
Eunice — Eunice Fire Department.
Broussard — Chops Specialty Meats.
Opelousas — Nissan of Opelousas.
Younsville — First Assembly of God Church, Verot School Road.
Ville Platte — Teet’s Meat Market.
