Walmart did not close on the property at the corner of St. Mary Road and U.S. 190, Don Reber, chairman of the Eunice Economic Development Committee, said Thursday.
“I don’t know where they stand. I don’t know if they are trying to look for some other property,” Reber said at Thursday’s committee meeting.
“Finding property is the key to bringing anybody in here, he said. “One of the things we need to do as a committee is to pull together all the property that is available. The city has got to come up with a master plan with its intentions as we go forward,” he said.
At the September city council meeting, a master plan committee was named, but there has been no announced meeting of the group.
Reber and the Economic Development Committee have been at the forefront in urging the city to develop a master plan to chart the city’s growth.
