Eunice man charged in drive-by shooting

Attempted second-degree murder

A 21-year-old Eunice man has been charged with a drive-by shooting that occurred around La. 13 and Maple Avenue on Sept. 23.
Eunice police identify the man as Martin Allen Mahon Jr., of the 300 block of Jelks Street, Eunice.
Mahon is charged with attempted second-degree murder.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the shooting stemmed from a fight earlier in the day and Mahon believed the person he fought was in the vehicle.
A woman was driving the vehicle which was struck by a bullet in the visor area of the windshield, he said. Mahon fired from another vehicle, he said.
The woman drove the vehicle to the police station to report the incident, he said.
The woman’s boyfriend had fought with a cousin of Mahon’s earlier in the day, Fontenot said.
A warrant for Mahon’s arrest was made on Oct. 4 and he was arrested Tuesday, he said.
