Polls showed Edwin Edwards, David Duke and incumbent Buddy Roemer tightly bunched at the top of the gubernatorial field.  Edwards led the voting with Duke second, followed by Roemer. Edwards is seeking a fourth term.
The St. Landry Parish Police Jury has asked the attorney general to appoint a fiscal administrator to manage the parish finances, relegating jurors to an advisory capacity as long as the fiscal crisis exists.
