National Recycling event set Nov. 23 at Eunice Community Art House
Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful, announces a National Recycling event to take place Monday, Nov. 23 at the Eunice Community Art House, located downtown Second Street.
There will be arts and crafts projects for kids, ages 9-11 at the art house, and refreshments from 10-12:30 p.m. “Michele Richard graciously gave her art space for our recycling projects,” said Baltakis.
Sheila Cormier, artist, will lead the kids into making crafts from recycled materials as well as materials that cannot be recycled and need to be re-used.
Registration for kids is currently underway, and limited space is available.
Register with Baltakis by calling 457-1510. All the kids need to bring a pair of scissors and all other supplies will be provided.
The children will make pumpkins out of rolls from toilet paper/paper towel, with a pipe cleaner and a small flower to decorate it. “Our artist will paint them orange ahead of time to make sure they dry in time, but the kids will have a chance to paint them. We will also use those foam paper plates that don’t break down in the landfill (reuse), to make a snowflake on a stick,” said Baltakis.
Baltakis is asking for volunteers to serve refreshments and those who wish to prepare baked goods and drinks for the children, can do so.
Baltakis is also asking for help for people to save and donate paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls.
