DeVillier wins D41 seat
Phillip DeVillier won the election for the District 41 state representative seat with 6,308 votes — 56 percent.
In unofficial returns, former District 41 state representative Greg Fruge had 3,036 votes — 27 percent — and Eunice councilwoman Germaine Simpson had 1,956 votes — 17 percent.
Current Rep. Mickey Guillory was term-limited out of the office after serving three terms.
House District 41 encompasses parts of Acadia, Evangeline and St. Landry parishes including the Eunice, Church Point, Basile and Iota.
DeVillier owns DeVillier House Movers. DeVillier also owns a property rental and development business dealing with residential development, Savannah Claire, Inc.
DeVillier is married to Lisa Savoy DeVillier. They have three children, Savannah, Jillian and Cooper. They are members of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
DeVillier graduated from St. Edmund High School, attended LSUE. He went on to graduate from LSU Baton Rouge, with a bachelor of science in business management.
St. Landry Parish Council
Political newcomer Coby Clavier defeated longtime St. Landry Parish police juror and parish councilman Gary Courville in Saturday night’s voting.
In unofficial returns, Clavier tallied 796 — 57 percent — votes to win the District 13 seat.
Courville had 584 votes — 42 percent.
Clavier is a lifelong resident of Eunice. He graduated from Eunice High School in 1998. Clavier has been married 15 years and has three children.
Clavier has been employed at Coburn Supply since 1997 and has been manager since 2005.
In the District 12 election, incumbent Jimmie Edwards Sr. defeated three challengers with 803 votes for 57 percent of the vote.
Edwards was first elected to the council in 2007.
Other candidates in the race were and their votes were John Marshall, 355 votes; Imelda Allison, 129 votes; and Kenneth Janice, 133 votes..
In Acadia Parish elections, Crowley Police Chief K. P. Gibson has won election as sheriff with 9,544 of the votes 17,368 votes cast
Also running were Keith Latiola, 6,905 votes; and Brian Richard, 919 votes
In the Acadia Parish Police Jury District 7 election the winner is David Savoy with 1,287 votes compared to Pat Daigle, 872 votes and Marron O. Lollis, 176 votes.
In the Acadia Parish Police Jury District 8, incumbent Robert J. Guidry had 1,536 votes and Felton Moreau votes 887 votes.
