Opelousas murder suspect captured in Dallas
After six days on the run, Opelousas murder suspect Kiara “Green Eyes” Rideau, 26, was arrested in Dallas, Texas, Capt. Clay Higgins of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
Rideau was arrested by the Dallas Police Department’s Gang Task Force officers without incident and without injury, Higgins reported.
Rideau is held in Dallas, awaiting extradition to St. Landry Parish on warrant charges of second-degree murder, he said.
Rideau is accused in the shooting death of Quinton “Q” Carrier, of Opelousas, near the Airport Quick Stop on La. 749 in Opelousas on Oct. 24, Higgins said.
In a news release, Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, “Our investigators never stopped working this case from the moment it was called in. Old fashioned detective work put together the evidence of the shooting and led to the warrant for Kiara Rideau. Our prayers are with the victim’s family. Detectives did everything possible to accommodate the voluntary surrender of Kiara Rideau, but he wouldn’t listen to reason. Running never, never works. In this case, the long arm of St. Landry Parish Law reached into the streets of Dallas Texas and captured a young man that was given an opportunity to walk peacefully… either as a remorseful or an innocent man… but as a man none the less, presenting himself to authorities with some degree of dignity. As things stand now, that opportunity has passed for Kiara Rideau. He’ll have his day in court, until then, he’ll be subject to the rulings of the justice system.”
