St. Edmund Catholic School celebrated Catholic Schools Week last week with many different activities, projects, classroom speakers, a motivational evangelist speaker, a bake sale and a youth retreat.
This year’s Catholic Schools Week theme was, “Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”
During the week, each class chose a Corporal or Spiritual Work of Mercy to carry out in the community.
Many spiritual bouquets were made and prayed for the sick. The junior high and high school classes sold baked goods throughout the week to raise money for a family in need. Items were collected and donated to shelters.
Students had the opportunity to spend time in adoration prayer each day.
Sixth-graders through 12th-graders listened to a motivational evangelist speaker Justin Fatica from Hard as Nails.
Students enjoyed Christian music, which was played at lunch in cafeteria and during changing of classes.
Past St. Edmund alumni parents and grandparents visited classes telling students how Catholic education made an impact in their lives.
There was a faculty/ student volleyball game for everyone’s enjoyment and entertainment.
Eighth- and ninth-graders attended a special youth retreat on Saturday at Opelousas Catholic School.
