Eunice track off to strong start

The Eunice track teams opened the season in fine fashion as the Lady Bobcats finished first and the Bobcats grabbed second in the Bobcat Invitational.
The Lady Cats scored 174 points to edge past Crowley High’s 136 points.
Oakdale finished third with 95 points, followed by Iota (54) and Port Barre (44).
The Bobcats finished second by just one point, as Crowley grabbed a 183-182 win.

Amaya Johnwell won both the 100-meter dash (11.69) and the 200-meter dash (26.97).
Shantella Gallow finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:00.28, followed by Kynzlie Fuselier’s (3:09.09) for third place.
Robbi Palmer captured the high jump with a leap of 5-0.
Palmer finished third in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:10.35.
Katelyn Guillory won the pole vault with a heighth of 7-0, followed by Kadryn Lawyer (6-0).
Lady Cat Erin Young won the 1,600-meters run (7:55.72), while Gabby Vidrine finished second (8:16.16).
Conner Granger won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 16:35.81.
Stacy White finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.28, followed by Kianna White’s 55.03.
Hannah Jack, Jyhreh Johnson, Kiara White and Timia Thomas won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.69.
Jack, Johnson, Kiara White and Saja Chevis combined to win the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:51.25.
Jack, Johnson, Kianna White and Chevis finished second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:21.10.
Madison Guillory finished second in the discus with a toss of 94-2.
Arryanna Guillory finished third in the javelin competition with a throw of 79-3.
In the boys competition, Dashaun Vigers won the high jump with a leap of 6-2, while Lukas Deculus won the javelin competition with a toss of 163-6.
Vigers also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 43-2 1/2.
Bryce Pavich won first place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 44.07.
Pavich also finished third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.37.
Nick Powell finished second in the 100-meters with a time of 11.06.
Powell also finished second in the 200-meters with a time of 23.41.
Austin Deculus finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.09.
Georrin Dupre captured second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.41.
Richie Newman finished second in both the 1,600 meter run (5:2347) and the 3,200 meter run (12:24.50).
Terryll Poullard finished second in the high jump at 5-10, while Jordan Ledet grabbed third (5-8).
Caleb Smith was second in the pole vault at 9-6.
Ethan Briscoe finished third in the 1,600 meter with a time of 5:30.15.
Nile Pierre was third in the 300 meter hurdles with a 45.94 finish.
Trevin Ceaser, Austin Deculus, Luckas Deculus and Nick Powell finished second in the 4x200 meter relay (1:35.87).
Ceaser, Austin Deculus, Bryce Pavich and Powell finished third in the 4x100 meter relay (45.69).
Lukas Deculus, Georrin Dupre, Javon Edwards and Poullard grabbed third in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:00.35.
The Bobcat Relays will be held Friday at the Eunice High athletic complex.
