Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot has proclaimed the week of April 3-9 as Junior Auxiliary Week.
The Junior Auxiliary of Eunice has been a part of the St. Landry community since 1980 and has 18 active members who donated more than 400 hours in 2014 - 2015 to the chapters’ various projects. The chapter raises funds each year through The Miss Eunice/Miss Teen Eunice pageant, which will be held on April 23, and also will include the Miss LSUE pageant. Another well know finance project is The Jingle Bell Rock -n-Run 5K, which is held in December each year.
“This is an exciting week for us, because it gives us a chance to thank all of the citizens of Eunice for supporting us in this work, and to recognize our wonderful corporate sponsors who finance these projects,” Candace Reeves, president of Junior Auxiliary of Eunice said. “The families and children we serve are so deserving and thankful for this assistance, and none of that would be possible without the support of the entire community.”
The mission of National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc. is to encourage member chapters to render charitable services which are beneficial to the general public, with particular emphasis on children, and to cooperate with other organizations performing similar services.
The Junior Auxiliary of Eunice is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, Mississippi. NAJA has 15,043 active, associate, and life members in 96 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.
