Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir presenting concert

The Eunice Community Concert Band & Choir will present its 26th annual summer concert at 7 p.m. today and Friday.
Founded in 1990, the musicians have enjoyed the support of patrons and sponsors from throughout South Louisiana, positioning the organization as an established and respected advocate for the performing arts.
The membership roll includes local communities such as Eunice, Basile, Chataignier, Iota, Rayne and Crowley, as well as members from Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Jeanerette, Scott, Maurice, Youngsville, New Iberia, Loreauville and others.
Conductor and cofounder Dwight Jodon commented, “We are celebrating our 26th year of offering two concerts annually, summer and Christmas. The Liberty Center is currently closed for repairs, so our summer program will be presented at First Baptist Church of Eunice, just a block away from the Liberty. It is sure to be a fun, relaxing night for all ages. The program has a broad mix of musical styles.”
Patricia Dossman, general manager and cofounder, said, “We have enjoyed the generous support of our patrons and sponsors for many years. Our audience has grown considerably over the past several years, with folks driving in from Baton Rouge, Lake Charles and everywhere in between. The concert is an opportunity for folks to enjoy a night of music and fun.”
Concert selections vary in style ranging from Broadway to gospel, Italian to Disney, and lots more. Titles include: “In Summer” (from Disney’s Frozen), “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Now Let Me Fly,” “He Keeps Me Singing,” “Mancini!,” “America” (from West Side Story), “Sweet Caroline,” “The Great Race,” “Put a Lid on It,” “Mambo Italiano” and “Soaring with John Williams” (featuring Superman, Cadillac of the Skies and Star Wars).
The Eunice Community Children’s Choir, directed by Arien Harper, will perform the age-old baseball classic, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
