Eunice woman, 26, is accused of stealing from grandmother

A 26-year-old Eunice woman is accused of stealing from her grandmother in a check-writing binge during June and July, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Lexiss Dawn Lanclos, of the 1000 block of North 2nd Street, Eunice, was arrested Wednesday.
Police said she is charged with theft of an aged person’s assets, theft, monetary instrument abuse and forgery.
Fontenot said Lanclos took checks from her grandmother and used them to make several purchases at Walmart.
The grandmother, also a Eunice resident, had a caretaker who was alerted by the grandmother’s bank of the checks being written, he said. The caretaker reported it to Eunice Police, who conducted an investigation, which is continuing, Fontenot said.
