'On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!' summer awards program at library

The Summer Reading program and StoryTime hours ended Wednesday morning with an awards program ceremony at the library.
This year’s summer reading theme, “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!”, was a success with different age group of readers reading books. From infant to 6 years of age, 73 registered, with 29 completions, and a total of 910 books checked out.
The sign up for reading in the 7-12 years age category group, were 94, with 38 completions, and total of 819 books checked out; in the teen division, 20 signed in, eight completions, and 161 books checked out; and in the adults, 23 signed up, with 16 completions, and 135 books checked out.
Bobbie Bordelon, children’s librarian, thanked the group of children readers, parents, and volunteer readers who participated in summer reading program. She also extended a thank you to the many Eunice sponsors, individuals, Eunice businesses and restaurants, who helped the reading program throughout the summer months and the end of the summer awards program by donating door prizes, gift cards, gifts, and other types of donations.
Walmart of Eunice donated a bicycle as a grand prize winner, and an E-Reader was donated by Jackie Choates.
Many children at the library program won plastic sports bottles, book bags, sports blankets, puzzles, gift cards to Eunice restaurants, a spa gift basket, stuffed football with items, an 18 piece BBQ tool set, donated by Ricky Coutee, and goodie-gift bags.
The grand prize winner of the bicycle was Darren Dardeau, and the E-Reader winner was Gavin Bertrand.
