Lelia McManus Fontenot celebrates 100th birthday

Despite the city of Eunice experiencing a huge amount of flooding, the party went on as planned.
Lelia McManus Fontenot celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 13 in Eunice with her family. The venue which was set at First Baptist Church in Eunice, was moved to a different location for the celebration.
The simple family party event was hosted by Lelia’s children and grandchildren.
Lelia McManus was born on August 9, 1916 to Mr. and Mrs. B.A. McManus in Beaumont, Texas. The family moved to Eunice in 1924.
Lelia graduated from Eunice High School in 1934 and is a member of the Eunice High Alumni Association.
She later in life married Coleman “Red” Fontenot and the couple became parents of four children. Lelia worked and retired as a medical records librarian at Moosa Memorial Hospital in Eunice, and her husband retired as a Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries game warden.
Lelia’s four children include Sue Rougeau Fontenot of Eunice, Bonnie F. Pratt of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Anne F. Roper of Houston, and Faye F. Langley of Shreveport.
Her six grandchildren are Geoffrey Pratt of Nashville, Monelle Rougeau of Spring, Texas, Jeanne R. Mann of Lafayette, Stephani Rougeau of Montgomery, Texas, Brad Langley of Carrollton, Texas, and Pam Roper of Houston.
Lelia’s six great-grandchildren include Sydney Mann, Aubrey Mann, both of Lafayette, Lili Walker of Houston, and Bryn Langley of Carrollton, Texas.
Family and friends traveled from parts of Texas, Maryland, Florida and Alabama to celebrate the 100th birthday of Lelia McManus Fontenot.
Lelia is a life long member of First Baptist Church in Eunice.
