Hayes pays a visit to Central Middle
St. Landry Parish School Board member Albert Hayes attended Central Middle’s teacher-in-service on Aug. 10 to welcome everyone back to a new school session, and to hear any concerns.
One of the major concerns voiced at Central is there will no longer be a counselor readily accessible to students. Principal Ranolviaun Landry added, “This is a tremendous gap in our support system for our students, especially children of this age group. Our school counselor retired in June, and we are not certain at this point exactly how the needs of our students will be met effectively without a school counselor designated for Central,”
“I did make a request for a full-time counselor for Central Middle School in an appeal to the superintendent, however, there has been no follow-up regarding this request as it pertains specifically to Central Middle School.”
Teachers shared with Hayes some of the specifics they will be doing this year in an effort to continue moving Central Middle forward. Hayes commended everyone for their hard work, commitment, and dedication and reminded the faculty and staff that he can be called upon to assist whenever necessary.
