Car flies across canal, woman injured

A 51-year-old Basile woman was injured when the car she was driving south on Bulah Street went through a hurricane fence and flew across a canal at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Eunice Police report. The woman, Eva Belton, was taken to Acadian Medical Center and transferred to Lafayette General, the report stated. The report said Belton avoided a pile of furniture on the side of the road before going through the fence in the 2004 Nissan Altima.
