Burley Prather, equipment operator
Burley John Prather died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the age of 76.
A Mass of Christrian Burial will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Edwards Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Father Darren Eldridge will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum.
He was a pipelines and construction backhoe operator and trained racehorses.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna Young Prather; four children; Monica M. Prather Doucet and husband Tim of Erwinville, Verland Prather and wife Pam Carrier Prather of Newport, Tenn., Tommy G. Prather and wife Leigh Tatman Prather of Erwinville, and Pam M. Prather Marcantel and husband Ken of Eunice; a sister, Rita Babineaux Guidry of Richard; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Seth Prather, Jon-Eric Prather, Brittney Shea Prather, Megan D. Prather Bodin, Amber M. Doucet, Elizabeth N. Burruss, Brooke M. Burruss, Gary A. Burruss, Henry J. Doucet, Hannah N. Prather, and Travis Marcantel; and seven great-grandchildren, Hunter S. Prather, Lathan L. Logan, Christian Logan, Hunter J. Bodin, Brayland Logan, Stedson Bodin, and Weston Logan. His pet was Tofie.
He was the Godfather of two, Lawrence "Blackie" Babineaux and Amy M. Gilcrest.
Visitation at Quirk & Son will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. by Deacon Kerry Reviere. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday for visitation until the time of service.
