Honor Air leader, Iwo Jima vet
BROUSSARD – Services for Louisiana Honor Air president Earl Flatt will be Saturday. He died April 25 at age 90.
He was a four-year Marine Corps veteran of World War II, service which included the Iwo Jima invasion. He was instrumental in the organization of State Farm agencies in Louisiana and was state manager for more than 40 years. As president of Honor Air, he arranged more than 20 flights of WWII veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.
Survivors include his wife Darlene and two sons.

Avoyelles educator
HESSMER – Services for former Avoyelles Parish School Supt. Ronald Mayeux will be Friday. He died April 29 at age 69.
He was a vocational agriculture teacher before becoming a parish supervisor and then two separate terms as parish superintendent. He was also a former coach and principal at Hessmer High and had most recently worked for the LSU AgCenter as executive secretary of Louisiana FFA.
Survivors include severa children.
Arrangements are by Escude’.

Baseball organizer
ALEXANDRIA – Services for youth baseball organizer Eddie Armstrong, Sr. will be Friday. He died April 28 at age 83.
He was a long-time employee of South Central Bell. He served eight years as president of the Alexandria Youth Baseball Association. He was instrumental in organizing a recreational program for the handicap through the Rapides Parish Police Jury and organizing the youth baseball program at the former England Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn, two sons and four daughters.
Arrangements are by John Kramer & Son.
