Czech Heritage advocate
PINEVILLE – Services for retired merchant, farmer and Czech Heritage advocate George Tuma will be Wednesday. He died June 1 at age 91.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the World War II invasions at Guam, New Caledonia, Bougainville, Fiji and the Philippines.
He was president for several terms of the Rapides Farm Bureau, on its board for years and active at the state and national levels. He was a member of the Louisiana Sweet Potato Advisory Committee and president of the Louisiana Czech Museum board for the past 10 years. He and his wife owned and operated a general merchandise store in Libuse for 37 years. He was assistant postmaster at Libuse for almost 40 years.
Survivors include several children.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Pathologist
SHREVEPORT – Services for retired Schumpert Hospital director of pathology Dr. Ulysses “Hank” Stoer will be Saturday. He died May 9.
He was a clinical professor in pathology at LSU Medical School, New Orleans, before taking the Schumpert position.
Survivors include his wife Frances, three children and two step-daughters.
Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.
