Department store owner
LAFAYETTE – Services will be Saturday for department store co-founder Irma Abdalla. She died June 5 at age 100.
She met her husband Edward at the Abdalla’s store in Opelousas. The couple founded and operated the Lafayette store on Jefferson Street for more than 60 years.She was involved in numerous community projects.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Delhomme.

Grocer
BATON ROUGE – Services for long-time grocer Samuel Crifasi will be June 9. He died June 5 at age 88.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was founder of Hi Nabor supermarkets and was on the board of Associated Grocers for more than 40 years.
Survivors include seven sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Radiologist
ZACHARY – Services for long-time radiologist Dr Hubert Owen, Jr. will be Saturday. He died June 4 at age 85.
He began practice in 1958 in Jennings. He then was radiologist at Lane Memorial from 1969 until his retirement. He also served at hospitals in St. Francisville and Baton Rouge.
He served on the Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners for the state. and was vice president of the state radiology society. He was a founding board member of Guaranty Bank and Trust and served on the first Home Rule Charter Commission.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, two sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Charlet.

Fun Land operator
ALEXANDRIA – Services for former amusement park manager John Day will be Saturday. He died June 5 at age 69.
He managed City Park Fun Land for nine years until its closing in 1986. He also was owner and operator of Putt Putt Golf and Games, then owned and operated a pecan company and a storage company.
Survivors include his wife Fay and four children.
Arrangements are by John Kramer & Son.

Ag chemical expert
JENNINGS – Services for long-time agricultural teacher Marcus “Mac” Strong, Jr. were Thursday. He died June 3 at age 74.
He was a chemical and agriculture expert and was several times president of the Louisiana Agricultural Chemical Association.
Survivors include his wife Pat, two sons and two daughters.
