Dentist
METAIRIE – Services for long-time dentist Dr. John Shea will be June 23. He died June 14 at age 80.
He practiced in uptown New Orleans for 55 years. He held various positions in the Louisiana Dental Association, including president. He was a member of the Louisiana State Board of Dentists for six years.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie, several children and step-children.
Arrangements are by Lakelawn.
Marine aviator, Eye Foundation exec
NEW ORLEANS – Services for retired U.S. Marine aviator and former executive director of the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation Col. John Caldas, Jr. will be June 18. He died June 14 at age 84.
He was a 35-year Marine and a veteran of the Vietnam War, flying 380 combat missions in jet aircraft. He held the DFC and the Bronze Star. After retiring, he help start the About Face boot-camp type program for the Criminal Sheriff of New Orleans and was Eye Foundation director for six years.
Survivors include his wife Carmen, a son and four daughters.
