Federal judge
BATON ROUGE – Arrangements are pending for U.S. Dist. Judge John V. Parker. He died July 14 at age 85.
He had been senior judge of Louisiana’s Middle District since 1998. He was nominated to the bench by President Jimmy Carter in 1979 and was chief judge until taking senior status.

PEI co-founder
LAFAYETTE – Services for oilfield engineer Donald Claxton will be July 18. He died July 14 at age 76.
He and two others formed Petroleum Engineers Inc, an internationally known firm.
Survivors include his wife Betty, a son and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Fountain.

Pharmacist
PINEVILLE – Services for pharmacist and businessman Walter Pearson will be July 16. He died July 12 at age 88.
He was a veteran of World War II’s Pacific theater. He opened the first Gibson discount pharmacy in 1960. He co-developed an automatic pill dispensing machine and operated several drug stores.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros., Pineville.

X-Ray distributor
BATON ROUGE – Services will be July 19 for X-Ray company owner John Bonfiglio. He died July 14 at age 80.
He was former chief of the X-Ray department at Baton Rouge General. He was president and CEO of Evangeline Medical and X-Ray Distributors, which had offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport and Jackson, Miss. He was a founder of The Country Club of Louisiana.
Survivors include five children.
Arrangements are by Resthaven.

Librarian
BATON ROUGE – Services for corporate librarian Ferol Foos will be July 20. She died at age 73.
She was director of special libraries for Ethyl and Albemarle chemical corporations and was retired Recorder of Documents for the Louisiana State Library.
Survivors include a daughter.

Noted golfer
CROWLEY – Services for noted amateur golfer Harley “Chic” Morgan are pending. He died at age 87.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was listed in the Guiness Book of World Records after a 1956 hold in one that never touched ground from tee to hole on a 133-yard hole at what is now Bayou Country Club.
He was several times city golf champion and as associated with the Nike Golf Tour. He was a plant manager for Conoco.
