Architect
SHREVEPORT – Services for noted architect Jesse Morgan, Jr. will be Sept. 5. He died Sept. 2 at age 92.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He became a registered architect in 1952 and served on the Shreveport City Planning Commission. He was principal in charge of one of the city’s leading firms for more than 40 years. As chairman of the Louisiana Consortium for Architectural Education he oversaw the first professional study of architectural education in the state. He also served on the state Architects Selection Board and was former president of the Louisiana Architects Assn.
Survivors include a daughter.
Coach, principal
ALEXANDRIA – Services for retired coach and principal John Francis will be Sept. 5. He died Aug. 30 at age 78.
He taught and coached in Calcasieu and Tangipahoa Parishes and was principal at Southwood in Hammond, SSD1 at Pinecrest State School and Poland Jr. High before becoming principal at Oak Hill High. He coached state championship teams in football, basketball and track and field.
Survivors include his wife Murray and a daughter.

Coach, principal
OAKDALE – Services for former coach and Oakdale High principal James Williams will be Sept. 6. He died Sept. 1 at age 84.
After graduating from Northwestern State he played catcher in the Brooklyn Dodges organization. He coached at Zwolle, Gillis/Sam Houston in Moss Bluff and at Oakdale High.
Survivors include his wife Mary and four children.
Arrangements are by White Oaks.
Board member
SHREVEPORT – Services are pending for long-time Caddo School Board member Lillian Priest. She died Sept. 3.
She was first elected to the board in 2004 and served two terms as its president. She was a former city planner, top mayoral assistant and director of Community Development.
She was a former chair of the Caddo Democratic Party and active in a number of civic organizations.
