Housing director, retired lt. col.
ZACHARY – Services for retired Southern University housing director Theodore Smith, Jr. will be Jan. 16. He died Jan. 12 at age 85.
He was also a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel.
Survivors include his wife Larender and several children

Boat dealer
LAFAYETTE – Services for retired boat dealer Alexander Stirling, Jr. will be Jan. 16. He died Jan. 13.
A veteran of World War II, he owned Alex Stirling’s Marine for 30 years. He was former chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in creation of the Bayou Vermilion District.
Survivors include three children.

Oil and gas exec
SHREVEPORT – Services for oil and gas executive Nicholas Wheelas, Jr. will be Jan. 26. He died Jan. 10 at age 98.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served as Chairman of the Board of Wheless Industries, Inc., Wheless Drilling Company and Tensas Delta Land Company, Managing Partner of N.H. Wheless Oil Company and Vice President of W. W. F. Oil Corporation. He served on the Executive Committee of the U. S. Oil & Gas Association; was President of the Louisiana-Arkansas Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association in 1962-1963; was President of the International Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors in 1969; was President of the General Mid Continent Oil & Gas Association in 1971 and was Chairman of the Board of the General Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association in 1972.
From 1976 thru 1991 Nick was Chairman of the Board of Commercial National Bank in Shreveport. He served as a director of both Southwestern Electric Power Company from 1964-1987 and Kansas City Southern Industries, Inc. from 1973-1990.
Survivors include a daughter.

Nursing adminstrator
NEW ORLEANS – Services for nursing administrator Charlotte Godchaux will be Jan. 17. She died at age 63.
From 1987, she served as a Registered Nurse, Assistant Nursing Administrator and finally as the Associate Nurse Administrator of, Pastoral Care, Vascular Access and Community Outreach at Charity Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters.
