Long-time state treasurer
BATON ROUGE – Services are Jan. 24 for long-time state treasurer Mary Evelyn Parker. She died Jan. 17 at age 94.
She was elected treasurer in 1968, the first woman to hold that office, and served five terms. She was a former editor of The Oakdale Journal and was personnel administrator for the War Department during World War II.
She headed the Department of Commerce & Industry under Gov. Earl Long and was head of the Department of Welfare for seven years. She was commissioner of administration during Gov. John McKeithen’s first term.
Survivors include two daugthers.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

NASA accountant
FORDOCHE – Services for retired NASA accounting administrator Brenda Burks will be Jan. 24. She died Jan. 11 at age 57.
A CPA, she also had federal accounting assignments at Fort Polk and in Washington, D.C., Indianapolis and Atlanta.
Survivors include several siblings.

Math professor
LAFAYETTE – Services for retired math professor Delphi Hebert, Jr. will be Jan. 24. He died Jan. 13 at age 93.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II’s European African Middle East theater. He was a professor at SLI-USL.
Survivors include his wife Lydia and two daughters.

Long-time landman
SHREVEPORT – Services for 50-year petroleum landman George Oran will be Jan. 24. He died Jan. 20 at age 89.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was president of Oakland Corp. and represented Samedan Oil and Premier Bank Trust Dept. He was on the board of the Petroleum Club.
Survivors include a daughter.
Arrangements are by Osborn.
