Hockey team owner
LAFAYETTE – Services for former Tulane football player, attorney and pro hockey team owner Ernest Parker will be Jan. 27. He died Jan. 23 at age 67.
He played at Tulane from 1965-68 and was team captain and outstanding linebacker and defensive end his senior year. He was a high school coach and teacher before getting his law degree. He practiced law before founding Campbell Wells, an oil field waste disposal firm later acquired by Sanifill Waste. He founded and operated for six years the Louisiana IceGators, an East Coast Hockey League Team playing in Lafayette.
Survivors include his mother, his wife MIdge and two children.

Golf club pro
BATON ROUGE – Services for former club professional golfer Albert “Bert” Burdick, III are pending. He died Jan. 23 at age 76.
He won the Louisiana State Amateur Championship multiple times and after turning professional won the New Jersey Open. He was head pro at Mountain Ridge Country Club, N.J. and Shnandoah Country Club in Baton Rouge.
Survivors include a brother and step-sister.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Pharmacist, banker
MANSFIELD – Services for pharmacist and banker Joe Schmidt, Jr. will be Jan. 26. He died Jan. 22 at age 85.
He worked in his late father’s Service Drug business before opening Mansfield Drug in 1964. He served many years on the board of First National Bank.
Survivors include his wife Gloria and two children.
Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Cotton farmer
SHREVEPORT – Services are Jan. 26 for cotton farmer and gin co-owner John Webb, Jr. He died Jan. 23 at age 86.
He was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He operate Webb and Webb Plantation, which has been established by his grandfather and had an interest in Gayle Gin Co. He helped establish the Ellerbee Road Fire Dept. and was on its board many years.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann and three daughters.

Deputy state treasurer
FALSE RIVER– Services for former comptroller of the La. Dept. of Highways and deputy state treasurer Joel Deville, Lt. Col. Ret., will be Jan. 27. He died Jan. 24 at age 83.
He was a CPA and former IRS agent and retired after 22 years in the Air Force Reserve. He was deputy state treasurer under the late Mary Evelyn Parker.
Survivors include his wife Sybil and four daughters.
Arrangements are by Niland.
