Wetlands ecology expert
BATON ROUGE – Services for LSU Emeritus Professor of Marine Biology Dr. James Gosselink are pending. He died Jan. 18 in Austin, Texas at age 83.
He was chair of the Department of Marine Sciences in the LSU Coastal Ecology Institute for more than 25 years. He was a leader in wetlands ecology as a scientist and as a scholar.
Survivors include his wife Jean and two children.

Accounting professor
SHREVEPORT – Services for CPA and college instructor Dr. Daniel Butler, Jr. will be Feb. 13. He died Feb. 12 at age 78.
He taught at LSU Shreveport for many years and was a noted amateur tennis player.
Survivors include his wife Midgie and two sons.
