Denise Landreneau Hanks
Denise Landreneau Hanks, 56, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, following a diagnosis of cancer two months ago.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Celebrant will be Rev. Dustin Dought.
She graduated from Opelousas High School and the University Of Southwestern Louisiana School of Nursing. She received her Master’s Degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from Xavier University in New Orleans. Over the years she worked as an ICU nurse, cardiology nurse and then as a nurse anesthetist.
Survivors include her parents, Harold and Jeanette Landreneau, brothers, Dr. Joseph Landreneau and wife, Gail of Alexandria, Dr. John Landreneau and wife, Jenny of Gonzales, sisters, Julie Landreneau of Huntsville, Ala., and Dr. Lori Smith of Atlanta, Ga., former husband, Bryan Hanks of Lafayette, special aunts, Juanita Fontenot of Opelousas and Kathleen Aucoin of Mamou and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Elizabeth Landreneau and Rose P. Ryder.
Visitation will be at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice beginning on Friday July 25th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, July 26th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday evening led by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
