Police Report

The Rayville Police Department made the following arrests for the week of Jan. 19-25.

• Zaquinton Hampton, 20, 333 Acel St., Rayville; possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

• Rodney Thomas, 28, 316 Russell St., Apt. 57, Rayville; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule 1drugs and 15 counts of simple burglary.

• Larry Johnson, 19, 315 Deborah Lane, Rayville; disturbing the peace (general).

• Larry Vanburen, 27, 202 Minor St., Rayville; possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

• Ashley Bradshaw, 26, 1647 Hwy. 15, Winnsboro; expired driver’s license.

• Linda Washington, 33, 216 Minor St., Rayville; theft less than $300.

• Winston House, 18, 212 Ollie St. Rayville; criminal damage to property greater than $100.

• James Lonnie Walters, 64, 136 Old Allord St., Rayville; battery.

• Kary Carroll, 32, 28 Cindy Lea Lane, Rayville; expired driver’s license, possession of Schedule 1, marijuana, open container and drug paraphernalia.

• William Smith, 69, 36 Diane St., Rayville; leaving the scene of an accident.

A total of two traffic citations were issued by the Rayville Police Department this week. That number includes one for speeding and one for an improper turn with an accident.

Rayville Police Chief Willie Robinson would like to ask all citizens of Rayville to do things which are positive in nature.

“I cannot stress how important it is to keep your record clean,” Robinson said. “One may not see the effects of it as this time, but in the future it will definitely come up again.”

The chief reminds people that when they apply for a job or housing, one of the things they are required to do is obtain a police report.

“When you do this and your record is not clean, it can cause problems,” he said. “Therefore, before you act in a negative manor, ask yourself is it really worth it?”

Chief Robinson states that working together can and will make a difference.

“Let’s keep Rayville moving in a positive direction whereby we can all be proud,” he said.

Chief Robinson also reminds motorists to obey all traffic signals. Too many accidents happen because a motorist fails to obey traffic laws.

“Please slow down,” he said. “Live long and enjoy a good life. The life you save might be your own.”
