Lady Bengals split with Lamar

Ali Daigle hit a walk-off grand slam to help lift LSU Eunice to a 9-6 win over Lamar State College-Port Arthur Tuesday at Lady Bengal Field.
Trailing 6-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Bengals (41-3) began the rally when Abby Mondy singled with one out, Maddie Edmonston doubled and Bobbi Smith singled to load the bases.
Mondy scored on an error before Rebecca Skains singled in Edmonston to close the gap to 6-4.
Darby Bishop singled in Smith to pull the Lady Bengals with-in a run, 6-5.
Molly Wilson walked to keep the rally going before Daigle’s heroics gave LSU Eunice the victory.
The Lady Bengals closed the gap to 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Savannah Lejeune doubled to left field and courtesy runner Olivia Gabor scored on Edmonston’s hit up the middle.
LSU Eunice pulled closer, 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Kaitlyn Bertot singled to center and scored on Daigle’s hit to right field.
Elizabeth Fontenot earned the complete-game win as she struck out one, walked three and allowed four earned runs on 11 hits.
The Lady Bengals finished with 12 hits, led by Daigle (2-for-4, 5 RBI, RS), Edmonston (3-for-4, RBI, RS) and Smith (2-for-3, BB, RS).
The Lady Seahawks stunned LSU Eunice 5-3 in the first game of the double header to stop the Lady Bengals’ win streak at 22 games.
Jordan Dougherty was handed the loss as she struck out two, walked one and allowed an earned run on two hits over three innings of work.
Starter Abigail Leonards went six innings as she allowed two earned runs on nine hits.
Bishop finished 3-for-4 with a RBI, while Daigle went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
Edmonston went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, while Wilson went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
On Sunday, the Lady Bengals a 10-7, 9-4 sweep over LSU Alexandria at the Ville Platte recreation complex.
Dougherty grabbed the win as she allowed one earned run on seven hits on the last four innings.
LSU Eunice starter Leonards allowed two earned runs on six hits with three walks over three innings.
Skains went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, while Annemarie Angelle went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Bishop finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored as the Lady Bengals had 10 runs on 11 hits.
In the 9-4 victory, Fontenot earned the complete-game win as she struck out one, hit two batter and allowed four earned runs on eight hits.
The Lady Bengals were limited to six hits but Angelle led with a 2-for-3 outing with a RBI and two runs scored.
LSUE travels to Mobile, Alabama for a doubleheader Friday against Spring Hill College.
