No. 2 Lady Bengals split with NW Florida State

Second-ranked LSU Eunice suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, but the Lady Bengals regrouped to take the second game against Northwest Florida State.
NWFS grabbed the 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh when Ashley Chumbler reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on a double by Adaria Dixon.
The Lady Bengals threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Cole singled with two outs but pinch runner Abigail Ohlin was left stranded at first.
Trailing 3-2, the Lady Bengals tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when Alli Daigle drew a bases-loaded walk to score Danielle Cruickshank.
LSU Eunice closed the to a run in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Boulet doubled plate Ginny Daggett who also doubled in the inning.
Northwest Florida scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take their first lead.
Hannah Sparks doubled and scored on a single by Ashley Roe.
Sparks’ double drove in Lauren Donaldson, while Mallory Carpenter scored on wild pitch for as 3-1 lead.
LSU Eunice scored in the bottom of the first when Dagget walked, stole second and scored on a single by Cole.
Boulet and Cole both went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
Destin Vicknair suffered the loss as she struck out 10. walked 2 and allowed four earned runs.

LSUE 4, NWFS 2
The Lady Bengals scored two runs in the first two innings to grab a 4-2 win.
Maddie Edmonston walked and scored on a single by Vicknair.
Boulet singled and later advanced on a throw to give LSU Eunice a 2-0 lead.
Camille Quebodeaux walked, Ohlin singled and both scored when Boulet reached on an error.
NWFS scored in the top of the third when Jade Williams singled and scored on a single by Cheyenne Jones.
The visitors from Florida closed the gap to 4-2 in the top of the fifth when Ashley Chumbler advanced on a dropped third strike and scored on Dixon’s singled.
Boulet went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Vicknair and Camisha Payton both went 1-for-3.
Edmonston and Ohlin both went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Cole earned the win as she fanned 11, walked two and scattered five hits.
LSUE (8-1) will participate in the Pearl River tournament this weekend with games against East Mississippi, Pearl River, Itawamba and Faulkner State Community College.
