Athletes recognized for academics
Trying balance athletics and academics can be challenging, but 11 Eunice High and St. Edmund athletes excelled in both track and the classroom to earn LHSAA Academic All-State track honors.
Excelling both in the classroom and on the field takes hard work, dedication and great time management.
St. Edmund’s Jada Fontenot and Margaret Vidrine earned Composite Academic All-State honors with a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Eunice High’s Kristi Thibodeaux (3.81), Carlee Myers (3.80), Kate McLemore (3.58) and Dylan Bertrand (3.54) were named to the Class 4-A Academic All-State list.
St. Edmund’s Macey Comeaux (3.95), Claire Quirk (3.90), Courtney Phillips (3.85), Hank Miller (3.80) and Quinten Swann (3.58) all earned Class 1-A Academic All-State honors.
To earn Composite Team honors, a student-athlete’s six-semester GPA must be one of the 18 highest in all seven classifications.
In order to be selected to the All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must be a senior, have participated in the sport for at least two years, and achieved a six-semester cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 or better based on a 4.0 scale.
