Blue Jays rally past Bobcats

The Eunice High Bobcats dominated the early going, but the St. Edmund Blue Jays dominated the late going to earn a 6-5 victory Tuesday night at North Park.
The Bobcats jumped to an early lead with a three-run first inning off Jays’ starter Drew Brown. With one out, Logan Manuel singled and stole second base.
Jordan Comeaux and Wes Hebert drew walks to load the bases. A. P. Sonnier drove in a run with a groundout before Caleb Taylor singled to drive in two runs for a 3-0 lead.

The Cats did make it 4-0 in the fourth on a home run by Comeaux off reliever Jack Brown. The Cats increased their lead to 6-0 with a run in the fifth. Caleb Taylor was hit by a pitch to start the inning and courtesy runner Travis Godfrey stole second. A sacrifice bunt by Christian Lejeune moved Godfrey to third and Christian Taylor’s sacrifice fly scored Godfrey.
The Cats were held scoreless over the final two innings, setting the stage for a come-from-behind win for the Jays. The Cats were hurt by stranding 11 baserunners in the game.
Eunice High’s Caleb Taylor no-hit the Blue Jays through five innings, but pinch hitter Jay Duplechin drove a single into right field to lead off the sixth.
Cole Bergeron reached on an error, but Ross Lafleur’s grounder was turned into an out at second, putting runners at first and third.
Will Chachere singled home one run and Drew Brown doubled home two more to cut the Eunice lead to 6-3.
Hebert came on in relief for the Cats and got out of the inning with no further damage. Hebert recorded a strikeout to open the bottom of the seventh, but Bergeron singled and Lafleur drew a walk to force a pitching change as Alec Trosclair replaced Hebert. Chachere drew a walk, Brown singled in two runs to tie the game, and Drake Brunet singled home Chachere with the winning run to give St. Edmund the 6-5 win.
