Blue Jays rest with open week
When Pointe Coupee Central was closed over the summer by the Pointe Coupee School Board, St. Edmund was forced to find another opponent.
That did not happen, so the Blue Jays have an open date Friday before taking on False River Academy on Oct. 31.
St. Edmund goes into the open week with a 4-3 overall, 2-0 in District 5-1A record after a 56-0 win over North Central.
“If we can take care of ourselves, we are a pretty tough team to beat,” St. Edmund head coach Thomas David said.
Blue Jay quarterback Drew Brown remains one of the best throwers in the state as he has completed 108-of-206 passes for 1709 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Alex Hunt has caught 35 for 527 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.
With the week off, David said they still want to keep the same routine.
“The open date comes at a good time because we have several injuries and hopefully we will have them back when we play again.”
This week, Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (4-3, 2-0) entertains Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (2-4, 0-1), while North Central (1-8, 0-2) visits False River Academy (2-4, 0-1).
St. Edmund entertains FRA next week.
