Bobcats brace for Jennings

There was plenty of excitement and celebration last Friday as Eunice High head coach Paul Trosclair picked up his 200th career win as the Bobcats rallied for a 28-21 victory over Northwest.
But now the Bobcats need to focus on a huge task at hand as No. 7 Jennings visits Eunice.
The Class 3-A Bulldogs rolled to a 36-8 win over St. Martinville in the season opener.
“We had to find a way win,” Trosclair said. “We had to over come injuries and mistakes and Northwest dominated (NW: 306 yards of total offense, EHS: 122) but our guys never gave up.
“That is a good sign that we fought to the end and never gave up,” Trosclair said.
“We can’t play like that this week or it won’t even be close,” the Bobcat coach said.
“Jennings is a very good team,” Trosclair said.
“They have 32 seniors back from a team that was a couple of plays away from playing in the Superdome for the state championship.”
Jennings finished 10-4 last year and fell 25-20 to Livonia in the Class 3-A semifinals.
“They have a legitimate chance to play for the state championship,” Trosclair said.
“We have a lot to fix and a short time to get there,” the Bobcat coach said of the challenge.
“But we will be ready to roll Friday night.
“We need to find a way to win with our offense, defense or special teams.
“We need everybody do to do what they are supposed to do to give us a chance,” Trosclair said. “We need a whole team effort.”
Jennings won 15-7 last season.
Eunice grabbed a 28-21 thriller in 2012.
“They don’t do anything fancy but they do it well.
“They have a good quarterback, two great running backs and an All-State tight end,” Trosclair said of the Bulldogs. “The present a lot of problems.”
Trosclair said the Jennings rivalry is the oldest series for the Bobcats.
“A lot of crazy things have happened over the years,” the coach said. “We have had some good games.
“Our guys will be ready, we just need to execute better.”
