Bobcats face Gents in district showdown
The Bobcats are right where they want to be - fighting for a District 4-4A championship.
But Eunice High (5-3, 3-1) will also face a tough obstacle when the Crowley Gents (5-3, 3-2) come to Bobcat Field on Friday night.
“It is an important district game obviously,” Eunice High head coach Paul Trosclair said. “It is also Parent’s Night and it is our designated pink game (National Breast Cancer Awareness Month) so there is a lot going on.”
Crowley quarterback Pate Broussard completed 18 of 28 pass attempts for an impressive 345 yards and seven touchdowns to help lead the Gents to a 52-48 come-from-behind victory over Rayne last Thursday.
“They are very good on offense,” Trosclair said. “This will be a good test for our defense, but I think they are going to be up to the task.”
Against Rayne, Crowley’s Bryston Domino had three kickoff returns for 160 yards, including a 96-yard return for a touchdown. Terrell Thomas had eight receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown and Chris Lewis picked up 105 yards rushing on 17 carries.
Trosclair the Bobcat offense needs to improve this week after only scoring six points against Vermilion Catholic (21-6 loss),
“We need to keep the ball on drives and give the defense a chance to rest,” he said. “Last week we had chances to score and we didn’t take advantage of those opportunities.
“On offense, people are taking turns making mistakes to kill drives.
“Against Crowley we need to be productive on offense to have a chance.”
