Bobcats finish as district runners-up with win over Gators

PRAIRIE BASSE – The Eunice High Bobcats ended their regular season with a 9-6 victory over the Beau Chene High Gators here Wednesday afternoon.
Coach Scott Phillips’ Bobcats slammed three home runs their way to an early lead, then had to fight off a late comeback by the Gators to earn the win. The Bobcats finished the regular season with an overall mark of 16-10 and a district mark of 8-4. The Gators ended the regular season with a 19-8 overall record.
The Bobcats opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Alex Sonnier’s two-run home run. The Cats then chased Gator starting pitcher Connor Robin with a five-run explosion in the fourth inning. Brasseaux ran into trouble in the bottom of the seventh by issuing a walk and a single. He was relieved by Alec Trosclair who earned the save by getting the final three outs in the contest.
