Bobcats maul OHS 48-0

OPELOUSAS – The Eunice High Bobcats scored on five of their six first half possessions on their way to a 48-0 thumping of the Opelousas High Tigers here Friday night at Donald Gardner Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Bobcat defensive unit was smothering the Tiger offense. The Cats limited the Tigers to just three yards rushing on 21 attempts. The Tigers did have 99 yards passing for the game.
The Bobcats’ first offensive possession came after the Cats forced a punt from the Tigers’ 10-yard line.
The seven-yard punt set the Cats up at the OHS 17 and it took only four plays to score. Chris Johnson scored the touchdown on a five-yard run and Wesley Hebert kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead with 9:29 left in the first quarter.
The Cats’ second possession began at their own 24 after a Tiger punt, but the Cats were held and forced to punt.
The Tigers moved the ball to their own 49 before having to punt for a third time.
The Cats took over the ball at their 8-yard line and proceeded to move 92 yards in 10 plays for a score.
Ty Ceasar had runs of 13 and 10 yards on the drive, but the final 48 yards came on a touchdown pass from Alex Richard to Travis Godfrey. Hebert kicked the PAT for a 14-0 lead with 31 second lefrt in the first quarter.
The Bobcat defense set up their offense when Kenneth Bellard recovered a fumble at the Opelousas 13-yard line. On third down, Ceasar ran five yards for the score and Hebert added the PAT for a 21-0 lead with 11:01 left in the half.
The Tigers got a 46 yard kickoff return by Collins Roberts but the Cats held the Tigers at the Eunice 30 to end the threat.
The Bobcat offense would drive 70 yards in ten plays for a fourth touchdown. Triston Frye had a 32-yard run and Johnson added 13 yards to set up Darin Serie for an 8-yard touchdown run. The PAT failed but the Cats held a 27-0 lead.
Things got even worse for the Tigers on the kickoff when the ball was fumbled and recovered by Eunice’s Nick Powell at the OHS 35.
It took the Cats just three plays to score. Quarterback Alex Richard hit Frye with a pass covering 29 yards and two plays later Richard scored on a three-yard run. Hebert’s PAT kick made it 34-0 with 2:59 left in the half.
The Cats received the second half kickoff and took possession at the OHS 40 following a penalty on the kickoff. The Cats wasted little time in adding to their lead as Frye ran for 7, Ceasar scooted for 38, and Frye scored on a six-yard carry. Hebert’s kick gave the Cats a 41-0 lead.
The Tigers had a chance to get on the board on the ensuing possession thanks to a nice return by Roberts. But the Cats held the Tigers inside their 10-yard line.
The Cats, now with younger players in the game, were forced to punt after picking up one first down thanks to a 17-yard run by Georrein Dupre. Hebert boomed a 65-yard punt which was muffed and recovered buy the Cats. Two plays later, Paul Zachary scored on a 7-yard run and Hebert kicked the PAT for a 48-0 lead.
The Bobcats finished with 259 rushing yards and 84 passing. Ceasar led the offense with nine carries for 93 yards.
The Cats host Washington-Marion this week.
The Charging Indians lost 28-21 to the Rayne Wolves.
