Bobcats rally past Pios

CROWLEY – The Eunice Bobcats rallied from an early deficit Monday night to defeat the Notre Dame Pioneers 8-4 in Acadiana Metro League action here at Miller Stadium.
Notre Dame scored two runs in the first inning and added a single run in the third inning to go up 3-0 against the Bobcats.
The Cats cut the lead to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Pios scored a run in the bottom of the inning to hold a 4-2 lead.
The Bobcats would dominate the offensive action over the final three innings, outscoring the Pioneers by a 6-0 margin to earn the victory.
The big inning for the Cats came in the sixth.
Christian Lejeune drew a walk to open the inning and came around to score when Logan Manuel and Caleb Taylor reached on errors.
Another error and a sacrifice by Jayden Brasseaux provided the final runs.
The Cats added an insurance run in the seventh as Jonas Granger singled and scored on a double by Wes Hebert.
Hebert got the Eunice comeback started in the fourth inning when he doubled with two out.
After Lejeune reached base, both runners would score on a single by Logan Manuel.
Granger drove in both runs in the fifth inning after Zac Guillory was hit by a pitch and Cade Richard singled.
Austin Manuel picked up the mound win for the Cats in relief of Taylor. Taylor worked three innings, giving up five hits and three runs.
He struck out two and did not walk a batter. Manuel allowed three hits in his three innings of work, striking out one and walking one.
Hebert closed the game for the Cats, allowing one hit in the seventh.
The Bobcats saw their record go to 7-3 with one game remaining on the schedule.
