Bobcats visit Crowley

The Bobcats are faced with a must-win game this week as Eunice visits Crowley in a District 4-4A battle.
“We have always had good games with Crowley,” EHS head coach Paul Trosclair said. “We usually get after it pretty good.”
The Gents (6-2, 4-1) rolled up 458 yards of total offense in their 33-21 win over Rayne, while the Bobcats (3-5, 1-3) are looking to bounce back from a 22-20 loss to Vermilion Catholic.
“It is another good team for us to face,” the coach said. “They have really good offense - another challenge.
Crowley running back Ty’Von Griffin gained 293 yards on 39 carries including touchdown runs of 25, 5, 2, 71 and 4 yards in the win.
Pate Broussard completed 9-of-14 passes for 121 yards for the Gents.
Rayne had 300 yards of total offense including 158 yards on the ground against the Crowley defense.
“We have had a tough run,” Trosclair said. “We could easily be 6-2 and not 3-5, but the facts are we need to win.”
Eunice had 189 yards on the ground against VC, but the Bobcat defense allowed 199 yards through the air.
The Bobcats appeared to have scored the winning touchdown with 1:20 left when John Ardoin picked up a VC fumble and raced 45 yards to the end zone but the officials ruled the runner was down.
“We feel that game was taken from us,” the coach said. “When you return a ball for a touchdown and everyone said it was a fumble except one guy on the field - that kind of hurts.
“I think we are playing well right now, we just need a break,” Trosclair said. “We haven’t gotten many this year.”
After the trip to Crowley, the Bobcats close district play at home against Beau Chene on Nov. 7.
