Bobcats visit St. Martinville

The Bobcats are in need of a win before opening district as Eunice High visits St. Martinville on Friday.
It was a close battle last season with the Bobcats grabbing a 12-7 win.
EHS head coach Paul Trosclair is concerned that his team rebounds from the 31-14 loss last week to No. 7 Jennings.
“I think the teams are evenly matched,” Trosclair said of the showdown with the Tigers. “We need to execute the game plan - and get better on special teams.
“Jennings did everything right and we did very little right,” the coach said. “
St. Martinville lost 36-6 to Jennings in the season opener but earned a 26-21 win over Assumption last week.
“Jennings made them look bad just like they did us,” Trosclair said. “But they had a big win against Assumption so they have confidence coming into the game.”
Jennings gained 295 yards on the ground last week, while the Bobcats had 213 yards rushing and another 46 yards through the air.
“We did some good things on offense, but we had issues at bad times,” the coach said. “We need to stop those breakdowns.
“Our quarterback showed some promise,” Trosclair said of Alex Richard’s first game back after a broken hand. “We can do much more with him in there.”
Richard gained 107 yards on 19 carries and he completed 2-of-11 passes for 46 yards.
“He was off throwing in his first game under the lights, but we know he can run the ball.”
It is St. Martinville’s size versus Eunice’s quickness and strength, according to the coach.
“We need to execute to give ourselves a chance,” Trosclair said. “We need to play with confidence to break their momentum they built last week.”
