Brunet grabs top honors

He only threw one touchdown pass, but it was the game winner.
St. Edmund quarterback Drake Brunet completed 17-of-38 passes for 212 yards against Iota incuding a 31-yard scoring strike to Gibson LaFleur to lift the Blue Jays to an 8-0 win over the Bulldogs
For his efforts, Brunet was named the Eunice News Player of the Week for Sept. 6-12.
Other top performers of the week included:
Eunice High’s Nick Powell had 12 carries for 151 yards with two touchdowns in the Bobcats’ 44-28 win over Jennings.
Church Point’s Frederick Williams had 141 yards on 12 carries with touchdown runs of 7 and 57 yards in the Bears’ 35-27 win over Iowa.
Eunice Darin Serie had nine carries for 117 yards and scored twice, while Bobcat quarterback Alex Richard completed 5-of-8 passes for 108 yards including a 40-yard score to Terryl Poullard.
Ajyh Johnson had 14 solo tackles, an assist and a forced fumble for the Bobcats.
Troy Matte completed 7-of-10 passes for 134 yards in Church Point’s win.
St. Edmund’s Cole Bergeron had six catches for 83 yards against Iota. He also grabbed an interception in the Blue Jays’ win.
