Cullen Brown earns Top Player honors

St. Edmund’s Cullen Brown only caught three passes Friday night against Catholic High of Pointe Coupee. But the Blue Jay receiver finished with 104 yards on the night with touchdowns of 78 and 18 yards against the Hornets.
For his efforts, Brown was named the Eunice News Player of the Week for Oct. 5-11.
St. Edmund quarterback Drew Brown completed 18-of-34 passes for 300 yards in the Blue Jays’ 30-14 win over Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.
Brown had four touchdown tosses in the win including the two to Cullen Brown as well as a 9-yarder to Alex Hunt (6-64) and a 30-yarder to Drake Brunet (4-59).
Hunt also had five tackles and a 38-yard interception return in the win.
Church Point’s Christian Veronie had nine carries for 93 yards and three touchdowns in the Bears’ 55-6 win over Pine Prairie.
Basile’s Gabe Fontenot had 122 yards on seven carries and two scores in the Bearcats’ 33-0 win over South Cameron.
Bearcat running back Kendrick Ceaser had 10 carries for 100 yards and two scores in the win.
Eunice High quarterback Alex Richard completed 6-of-10 passes for 90 yards in the Bobcats’ 43-6 loss to LaGrange. Richard also scored on a 7-yard run in the second quarter.
