Eunice sends five to state 4-A meet

LAFAYETTE - Eunice High senior Kate McLemore won the Regional girls discus competition with a throw of 108-6 to make a familiar return trip to the state track meet.
McLemore repeated as state champion last year with a toss of 116-9 after a winning throw of 103-3.
The Class 4-A meet will be held Saturday at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track complex.
McLemore leads a group of five EHS athletes that finished in the top three at the Region II meet held at Northside High on Thursday.
Dashaya Vigers finished third in the girls javelin with a throw of 110-07.
Bethany Issac finished third in the girls shot put with a throw of 31-8.5.
Hali Jack finished third in the girls high jump with a leap of 4-10.
Jor’don Daigle finished second in the boys javelin with a toss of 173-10 to advance to the state meet.
Shelbie Cormier, Shelbie finished fourth in the girls pole vault at 8-6.
Nicholas Powell, Nicholas finished fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.40.
D’Onte Washington finished seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 23.49.
In the girls 4x100 relay, Jyrieh Johnson, Hali Jack, Kristi Thibodeaux and Beulah Bradley finished sixth with a time of 51.81.
Eunice finished sixth in the girls 4x200 relay as Johnson, Clea Fransaw, Thibodeaux and Bradley combined for a time of 1:50.06.
In the girls 4x400 relay, Johnson,, Kiara White, Fransaw and Bradley finished seventh with a time of 4:26.32.
In the boys 4x100 relay. Eunice’s Skylar Ned, Powell, Washington and Ajyh Johnson finished 10th with a time of 44.85.
Ned finished 10th in the boys discus with a throw of 106-11.
Cole Prudhomme finished seventh in the boys shot put with a toss of 42-10.
Plaquemine won the girls regional title with 66.5 points, while Eunice finished in eighth place with 32 points.
Opelousas High won the boys competition with 72 points as EHS finished 14th with 12 points.
