Eunice shines in Bobcat Relays

The Eunice Lady Cats tied Notre Dame for the girls title of the Bobcat Relays, while the Crowley Gents won the boys competition.
Eunice and Notre Dame tied with 97.5 points, followed by Crowley (92), Oakdale (64), Beau Chene (59), Opelousas Catholic (45), Ville Platte (29), Port Barre (24), Pine Prairie (17.5), St. Edmund (12), Mamou (11) and Rayne (8.5).
Eunice High’s Amaya Johnwell won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.81.
Madison Guillory won the discus with a toss of 96-3, while DaShaya Vigers won the javelin with a throw of 133-9.
The Lady Cat foursome of Timia Thomas, Hannah Jack, Kiara White and Jyhreh Johnson won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.32.
Johnson, Jack, Johnwell and White finished second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:50.75.
Stacie White finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (51.44), while Eunice High’s Kadryn Lawyer and Katelyn Guillory tied St. Edmund’s Abby Brown were tied for second place in the pole vault at 7-0.
Eunice’s Clea Fransaw, Saja Chevis, White and Johnson finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:31.78.
Kianna White finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.44.
The Crowley Gents scored 158 points to capture the boys title, followed by Oakdale (109.5), Eunice (76), Beau Chene (73.5), Ville Platte (39), Port Barre (24), St. Edmund (23), Pine Prairie (19), Mamou (15), Opelousas Catholic (15) and Rayne (6).
Eunice High’s Nick Powell finished second in the 100-meter dash at 11.07.
Robert Dacus threw the shot put 42-6 for a second place finish.
Lucas Deculus finished second in the javelin with a toss of 167-3.
EHS’ Austin Deculus, Jordan Ledet, Malik Poullard and Nick Powell finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.28.
Caleb Smith finished third in the pole vault with a heighth of 10-0.
Georrin Dupre finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.97.
Bryce Pavich was third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.22.
St. Edmund’s Cullen Brown finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.94.
Ledet, Powell, Austin Deculus and Poullard finished third in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.85.
Eunice will host the St. Landry Parish meet on April 6.
St. Edmund will return to the track for the Bear Paw Relays on April 13 in Church Point.
